Great surprise and joy in the streets of Ursynów

I love Ursynów,I love Wzgórze Słowików

On last Saturday, on October 20 the residents of Ursynów participated in an unusual event. Artists, musicians, sportsmen and residents of Warsaw marched together in the streets of Ursynów to express their joy that they live in this district of Warsaw.

The Parade “I love Ursynów,  I love Wzgórze Słowików” was a part of a day-long event, which started at 11 a.m. at the corner of Kiedacza and Ciszewskiego streets, near “Wzgórze Słowików” housing estate, which is presently under construction. The organizers’ aim was to create an opportunity to cultivate joy and  bring residents of Ursynów closer together.

The joyful and colourful parade could be seen in the streets: Nugat, Rosoła, Indiry Gandhi, Cynamonowa,  Ciszewskiego and Kiedacza.

Among the participants were the American football team the Warsaw Eagles, Knights from Sandomierz, an orchestra with a choreographic group, Monster Truck, old cars and fairy tale characters – Princesses and Princes, specially admired by the youngest participants. Also the passers-by and Ursynów residents willingly joined the Parade.

The official opening was conducted by Mr Artur Tłustochowski (the originator and representative of the investor of Wzgórze Słowików project)  together with the Mayor of Ursynów – Mr Piotr Guział and Vice-mayor of the Royal City of Sandomierz – Ms Ewa Kondek, who embraced the Parade with honourable patronage, thus emphasising their good relations and a common, centuries-old tradition.
The honourable guests of the event were distinguished residents of the Ursynów district – Mr and Ms Jerzy and Lidia Owsiak, as well as Mr Jan Pilch – the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Gino Rossi S.A. clothing and footwear giant.

The representatives of Sandomierz Knights through their participation reminded us of a historical character – Andrzej Ciołek – a knight, chamberlain and prefect of Sandomierz, the owner of Kabaty estate, who went on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, thus contributing to mutual getting to know and interpenetration of cultures. Since the year 2000 there is a stone in the area of Ursynów commemorating this pilgrimage.

The Parade ended with a speech of Ms Agnieszka Adam and Mr Artur Tłustochowski, who jointly thanked the guests, patrons, participants and sponsors. The event was closed with a spectacular show – fireworks display, which lit the sky and brought a lot of joy to the residents of the whole of Ursynów and the surroundings districts.

We wanted to do something positive and unusual in the American style for the local community. We know that Polish people love parades and the residents of Ursynów love their district. We are very pleased that we had such a mass response to our invitation and so many people decided to spend this beautiful autumn day with us and with their future neighbours on our Parade” says Artur Tłustochowski from Wzgórze Słowików.
